That's inspiring to hear, I wish to become an investment analyst and portfolio manager too. I would love to focus on biotech/pharma stocks portfolio, apart from some of the very dedicated and talented individuals here (Left-e & OP & Ecool2 and a few others), I don't think most analysts with a commerce degree will understand pharma stocks very well. Yet, it is much easier for them to land a job as a biotech analyst and manage millions of dollars in this industry.
I have a PhD in immunology, work experience in gene therapy, virology, and autoimmunity + CFA level 1, but I am finding it difficult to land a research analyst position (the most junior position). Maybe I will be more competitive after going through all 3 levels of CFA? Time will tell.
