5 Good Email Marketing Strategies

Post by fai88343 »

Many online marketers never really quite grasp the power of email marketing strategies. It is quite common for marketers to have large email mailing lists but never make any money from them. Most online gurus will argue the fact that each subscriber on a mailing list should be worth $1 to your business. This means a mailing list of 5000 subscribers should essentially be making you $5000 per month, however for many people trying to make a profit with email marketing this is not the case. In reality, newbie email marketers send out emails with poor subject lines that are never opened. Even if their emails are opened by subscribers they often do not get the desired effect of the email reader clicking through to the link contained in the email body. Here are some simple tips that should ensure your email marketing strategies get the response you desire.

1. Personalize your emails.

It is always good practice to use each subscriber's first name when emailing them. This adds a personal touch, and gives the reader the impression you are talking directly to them, not just to the masses. Most good autoresponder services will have special "tags" which can automatically insert details previously collected from your subscribers when they initially signed up. When using pre-written affiliate emails, be careful to check the special tags are compatible with your autoresponder as each service has their own tags.

2. Double And Triple Check

Nothing reeks more of wannabee marketer than an email filled with spelling mistakes, bad grammar and broken links. Most autoresponder services provide a test email option, allowing you to send an exact copy of your proposed email to yourself. You can often spot mistakes you overlooked in the autoresponder message editor more easily in your preferred email reader. Double check any links you business leads include in emails. You do not want to go to the trouble of compiling a fabulous email only to discover after it has been sent out, that it contained a bad or broken link, or worse still, no link at all. Having to resend an email to your mailing list, admitting your mistake, does not look professional. Read your own emails.

3. Be straight to the point.

There is no point trying to be super clever or downright sneaky when composing email subject lines. Simply tell it like it is. Tricking people into opening emails with false claims with have them clicking on the unsubscribe button in droves. You are trying to build trust with your subscribers don't lose that trust with cheap gimmicks aimed at deceiving them. Make your subject lines catchy, attention grabbing and unique. Chances are your subscribers will be on many mailing lists not just yours. When promoting affiliate products, never use the exact email subject given by the product owner, change it around a little, or better still completely rewrite it. It is also important that you are careful with your choices of words in email subject lines. Avoid words which trigger spam filters or your emails will be filtered straight to the bin or spam folder and never be read at all.

4. Don't make assumptions.

When composing emails never assume your subscriber has read a previous email. For whatever reason, your subscriber may not have received a previous email so it is good practice to cover all avenues. For example, if you are emailing your subscribers with a 5 part course, be sure to give links to all previous parts of the course in each email. This way you can be sure each part will be read.

5. Keep it simple

Emails should be short and to the point, you are not creating a best selling novel. Short paragraphs that are easy to digest will keep your subscribers attention. Many people have busy lives, they simply don't have the time to read pages and pages of a long email. Once you have their attention you have to fully maximize it. Ensure each paragraph flows naturally into the next one. Good email marketing strategies come with practice and testing. If you can track email open rates and click through rates your results shall point you in the right direction. Test as much as you can. Remember you do not need a big list to make money from email marketing, you simply need a responsive list.
